Part 1: The Boy in the Rain
The night began with a light drizzle. At first, it felt harmless. However, the rain slowly turned colder, seeping into the bones of anyone left outside too long. Meanwhile, at a crowded city intersection, rows of cars stood still under a red light. Inside them, people remained warm and distant from the harsh world outside.
Amid this quiet contrast, a small boy moved between the vehicles.
He was thin and completely soaked. His worn clothes clung tightly to his body, while his hands held small packs of tissues that were already damp. To most people, he was invisible—just another street child trying to survive.
Then, he stopped in front of a luxury black car.
Unlike the others, this car felt different—cleaner, colder, and somehow distant. The boy gently raised his hand and tapped on the window.
“Sir… tissues…” he said softly.
His voice almost disappeared beneath the sound of rain.
Inside the car, a well-dressed man sat silently. He looked exhausted, as if life had taken something from him that could never be replaced. Beside him, a woman sat quietly. At first, she paid no attention.
However, something suddenly caught her eye.
It wasn’t the boy’s voice or his face. Instead, it was a small silver necklace hanging from his neck—a pendant shaped like half a heart.
Immediately, her breath stopped.
Instinctively, she touched her own chest, as if confirming something she feared might be true. Then, without hesitation, she whispered, “Open the window.”
At first, the man seemed confused. Yet, seeing her expression change, he complied. Slowly, the window rolled down, letting in the cold air and soft rain.
The boy stepped back slightly, but he didn’t leave.
The woman leaned forward, her eyes locked on the necklace.
“Where did you get that?” she asked gently.
In response, the boy quickly held it tightly, protecting it as if it were the most valuable thing he owned.
“I’ve had it… forever.”
For a moment, everything felt still. The noise of traffic faded, and time seemed to pause.
Then, with trembling hands, the woman reached into her coat and pulled something out.
Another necklace.
The other half.
When both pieces faced each other, there was no doubt. They matched perfectly.
Tears began to fall silently. Meanwhile, the man beside her froze in shock.
“This… can’t be…” he murmured.
At that moment, the traffic light turned green. Cars behind them began honking impatiently. However, the woman didn’t react. Instead, she opened the door and stepped out into the rain.
Part 2: The Truth That Was Buried
Without hesitation, the woman rushed toward the boy. Although her steps were not fast, they were filled with urgency, as if she had been searching for this moment her entire life.
Soon after, she dropped to her knees in front of him.
Her hands trembled as they gently touched his face. She looked at him closely, afraid that he might disappear at any second.
Then, suddenly, she pulled him into a tight embrace.
“My child…” she cried.
The boy froze. His body stiffened, and his hands still held the tissues. He didn’t understand what was happening—at least, not yet.
“Mom…?” he whispered softly.
The word came out naturally, even though he couldn’t explain why.
At that point, the woman broke down completely. Meanwhile, the man stepped out of the car and stood silently in the rain. In that single moment, his world seemed to collapse—and rebuild at the same time.
“Twelve years ago,” he began slowly, “our son disappeared at the hospital.”
The woman nodded through her tears. “All we had left was that half necklace.”
Hearing this, the boy looked down at the pendant in his hand. Then, he looked at theirs. Finally, he looked back at their faces.
Something inside him began to change.
However, the truth was far more complicated than they imagined.
A few days later, inside their grand home, old records were reopened. Hospital files were carefully reviewed. Then, the shocking truth finally emerged.
The boy had never been lost.
Instead, he had been switched.
That night, a nurse struggling with debt accepted money to exchange babies. A child from a wealthy family was taken away and replaced.
As a result, their real son had been living on the streets all this time.
Meanwhile, the child they raised had been living a life that was never meant for him.
Upstairs, a teenage boy stood in front of a mirror, holding the same necklace—yet it didn’t belong to him.
Downstairs, a street child sat quietly on a luxurious sofa, still clutching his tissues, still trying to understand everything.
In the end, two worlds collided into one truth.
And soon, they would face a decision that could change everything.
To be continued…
